St. Peter’s Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church

Located on the corner of Cook and Washington streets. This historic Danish Church, built in 1880, housed the oldest organized congregation in the United States. Under direction of the Sheffield Historical Society, the church was preserved to the 1880-1890 period. Today it is a non-functional church, but can be used for funerals, weddings, and christenings. Sheffield Historical Museum staff will provide tours for a nominal fee. A special Danish Christmas Service is held each year.
