Towns & Villages
Ladd
Ladd's first trading center was established in the 1880s. Mining, farming, and the railroad were important industries in the early days.
Ladd recently won two Governor's Hometown Awards for the renovations to their World War I Soldier war memorial in Veteran's Park.
Ladd offers great chicken at Rip's (and don't mind the usual line, it moves quickly). Although Rip's has been an area favorite for 70 years, they have also received noteworthy acclaim twice from the Chicago Sun-Times! Torri's takes you back to the good old days of soda fountains, burgers, and ice cream delights. A real period piece well worth a visit.
Try a delicious turtle special at Lanuti's (Lanuti's serves more turtle than any other restaurant in Illinois!). After your meal, try a home made cream drink. Yum! No credit cards but there is an ATM. And if you are craving a pork tenderloin sandwich, Softails (lunch is 11-2 and dinner is 5-9 Monday thru Saturday) serves one of the best.
See Randy at Ladd Automotive for maintenance and service of your vehicle. Talk to Gary at Ladd Upholstery about recovering that special piece of furniture or family heirloom.
